Oia Cafe Taipei - Dining With Alpacas

Oia Cafe Taipei - Dining with Alpacas

Dining with some fluffy friends

There are plenty of super cool themed cafes all around the world but how often do you get to brag that you have dined with the cutest alpacas roaming right beside you? If you are planning a trip to Taipei, you might want to keep half a day free to spend some time with these furry animals.

I kept a little distance from this fluffy cutie as I witness her being all sassy with someone right before this shot was taken. Someone was intruding into her personal space and hugging her too tightly and she ended up spitting on his face. If you don’t want to walk out with a nasty surprise, you definitely need to respect their space and not hug them too tightly!

Entrance to the cafe

The cafe is located at the quiet outskirts of Taipei. You can actually get a breather away from the bustling hub of the inner city. The entrance is definitely not what you would be expecting. I would advise to keep your hopes lower, as it is unlike any of the upscale cafes you see in Singapore.

Rustic furnishings of Oia Cafe Taipei

Immediately after entering the cafe, our noses were overwhelmed by the smell of alpacas. The cafe has a warm rustic touch to the interiors which instantly feels like home. You will be welcomed by their two in-house roaming alpacas, Snow & 李白 (Li Bai). They are sisters by the way, how adorable!

Expect to meet TONS of Singaporeans in the cafe. About 90% of the customers in the cafe were Singaporeans when we visited. It kinda feels like we were back home but not really. As part of the rules of the cafe, every pax has to order something before they can interact with the roaming alpacas. We of course, being 24/7 hungry, were more interested in the food than these furry creatures.

The cafe serves mainly western style dishes. The food is pretty basic, I mean... how can anyone screw up something so simple like a plate of chocolate banana waffles right? They are not Michelin star cuisines but it is edible. Reasonably priced as well, it is around SGD30 per person for both food and drinks. Ps: The coffee is pretty good though!

After stuffing our bellies full, we went outside to their farm which houses a bunch of other alpacas and baby lambs. Warning, it is really, really, REALLY smelly here but you will get used to it. We were quite unlucky as the alpacas in the farm were really dirty when we visited. If you are lucky, you might get to see a farm full of nice fluffy alpacas waiting to greet you!

Maybe not so unlucky after all, was greeted by a scene of ahem... alpacas mating. HAHA! Just take a look at the face of the brown alpaca, utter bliss.

We had a little fun playing with the two in-house alpacas, mainly cuz' they were much cleaner, before making a move. When you are done having the time of your life mingling with these cute alpacas, do not forget to head out to the nearby beach to take a few Instagram worthy shots. It is a little tough to walk on the stones but trust me, it is worth it!

So that concludes our little journey and experience at the cutest lil alpaca cafe. If you are planning a trip down, wear something that you prolly do not mind being chewed upon cuz' these fluffy creatures are unstoppable! The experience was worth the journey down (about an hour from Da'an Station) and I almost forgot to add, they have VERY CUTE waiters too. There was a guy that look so much like Vanness Wu. Hope you guys enjoyed this post and if you are heading to anywhere in the world, have a safe one!
