Let me see a show of hands, anyone equally as obsessed with clay masks as I do? I'm sure those who have oily skin would get where I am coming from. The only thing that can clear out all the gunk in our pores is a good clay mask. Recently, I was introduced to Tsururi, a Japanese skincare brand that was newly brought into Watsons and their range of clay masks blew me away.

Formulated with 100% botanical ingredients, their products are modelled after the Japanese way of achieving pure, clear & smooth skin. The key ingredient in majority of Tsururi's products is Ghassoul Mineral Lava Clay, curated from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. In case you didn't know, this clay is insanely rich in minerals and is an exceptional ingredient for both skin and hair care. Negatively charged, this clay acts as the perfect magnet to detoxify the skin off positively charged impurities like sebum & blackheads.

With an intensive product line up, anyone could easily be overwhelmed. Not gonna hide it, I was myself too. However, after testing the entire range and slowly getting used to them, here are my thoughts and recommendations that may help you decide on which is better for your skin. Let's start off with the very basics of our daily skincare regime which is cleansing!

Face Pore Cleansing Brush - SGD$18.90

Pore Cleansing Brush

Silky Soft Bristles
This is honestly one of the SOFTEST cleansing brush I've ever tried. Made up of 100% Kanegoto fibres that is known for its fast-drying properties, this mini brush definitely takes your entire facial cleansing experience to a whole new level. Suitable for all skin types, the ultra-fine bristles produce a luxurious fluffy foam that helps to clean your skin off impurities. Worried about hygiene and having the need to constantly switch out your brush? Fret not as this Face Pore Cleansing Brush is anti-bacterial so that makes one lesser worry for your skin woes. If you have the chance, definitely feel this brush yourself, you will understand why I am raving about it!
Ps: I have seen similar brushes like these retailing in Tokyu Hands for a whopping price of SGD$50. If you are looking for an affordable option that is just as of high quality, definitely check this baby out!

Ghassoul White Clay Paste - SGD$12.90

Ghassoul White Clay Paste
Made up of French white clay, white florals and Mannan, it gently exfoliates to reveal brighter looking skin. It smells heavenly and has a creamy lather when used with the Face Pore Cleansing Brush. Would recommend this to people with normal/combination skin as it does leave your skin feeling taut after washing. You definitely require to moisturise after cleansing with this as it does get rid of all the gunk, leaving your skin squeaky clean and slightly dry to the touch.

Luxurious Creamy Lather
Personally, I prefer to use this after a long day of wearing makeup as it helps to remove all the impurities deep in my pores. Since my nightly skincare regime is pretty rich, it is able to compensate for the stripping of natural oils on my skin after using this face wash. I particularly enjoy massaging the creamy lather on my face with the Face Pore Cleansing Brush. The scent is extremely relaxing, making it a great pampering session after a long day at work. People with dry/sensitive skin might need to take extra care when it comes to re-moisturising the skin after cleansing.

Ghassoul Paste - SGD$12.90

Oily skin homies, this is the one for you! Infused with Andes Rock Salt, this cleanser comes with great exfoliating properties that helps to remove dead skin while drawing out the dirt in your pores. As it is quite a strong cleanser with great exfoliating properties, I tend to use this on alternate days to make sure that my skin is in tip-top condition. It is also a great morning facial massage cleanser that not only aids in draining the lymphatic system but also gives a great canvas for makeup application after. I've noticed that my skin appears clearer and less dull after incorporating this into my skincare.

Point Clay Pack-$12.90

Pore strips? Please dump them all in the bin. Yes, I am being brutally honest right here but pore strips are actually the worst! Sure, you get a great satisfaction when you watch it rip out all the nasty blackheads but do you know that it actually severely harms your complexion as well? As you rip off the pore strip, it actually takes away a layer of skin on your nose which in turn damages your complexion and may lead to scarring. Sometimes, the force of ripping off the pore strips will cause spider veins and even broken capillaries. Now the tea has been spilled, pore strips aren't that glamorous after all, huh? Don't be dejected though, Tsururi's Point Clay Pack is your next best friend in terms of getting rid of blackheads.

Oil Spots
When applied, it goes on smoothly as a brown clay. After a couple minutes, it starts to dry and change colour. If your pores are filled with oily buildup, you can literally see the clay draw it all out to form oil spots on the mask. Apparently it takes 5 minutes for all the magic to happen but I guess my skin is such a great oil factory that it only took 2-3 minutes for the oil spots to show. There is no irritation to the skin with this mask as it is a simple wash-off process.

Pores are less clogged and my blackheads are smaller after first application.
As this mask helps to unclog the pores by drawing out impurities, it will gradually solve all your blackhead problems with continued usage. A little heads up though, don't expect immediate results as this is unlike your peel-off pore strips. Tsururi's Point Clay Pack works on slowly cleaning out your pores thus reducing blackheads from occuring. It is a gentle formula that does not leave your pores open to infection or deeper clogging.

Ghassoul Mineral Clay Pack - SGD$19.90

As always, I love saving the best for the last. This mineral clay treatment pack has little brown sugar granules which will aid in exfoliating during wash-off. If you are quick to spot details, you would have realised that Tsururi focuses on not only drawing out impurities from the skin, but also on exfoliation too. Coupled together, this strategy will help combat rough skin while improving its elasticity.

Easy Application
Application of the mask is smooth and easy. Ghassoul Mineral Clay Pack is gentle yet effective and also helps to treat acne at the same time. When the mask is completely dried up, I like to add a little water to dampen the formula and gently massage the sugar granules to exfoliate the skin.

Do you see the sugar granules?
Unlike your average clay masks that may over-strip moisture from the skin, Ghassoul Mineral Clay Pack has moisture-retaining ingredients; Argan Oil, Honey, Royal Jelly and more, to maintain dewy soft skin. It also has a relaxing spa-like scent as it is infused with a intoxicating blend of rosemary, lavender and geranium essential oil. It is the ultimate stay-at-home pampering session.

Brighter, Clearer & Clean Skin in Just 5 Minutes!
Is it strange that I think I look so much better with the mask on? Haha, jokes aside. Check out how bright and clear my skin looks! Completely bare face in this picture and I feel so confident about it. My clogged pores have been drastically reduced and my skin feels silky smooth to the touch. As it is alcohol-free, the mask doesn't irritate my skin at all. Definitely one of my favourites from their entire line.

Overall Thoughts

Disclaimer: This picture has been edited cuz' I wanna look pretty!!
Tsururi line of Ghassoul Clay Skincare is definitely one of the more high quality ones in the market. I used to use Mint Julep on a weekly basis but it was too drying for me. It irritated my skin which then led to an incessant acne breakout after. The gentle blend of botanical ingredients in Tsururi's masks not only helps to remove impurities in the skin but also treat existing acne and doesn't leave your skin feeling flaky dry. Overall, I am really pleased with my experience with Tsururi, and if you are ever in the market for an affordable clay mask, definitely check them out.

Tsururi is available in Metro, BHG, Watsons, Tokyu Hands & Meidi-ya. Thanks for reading and may we all have clearer, brighter skin!

xx
