YAS HONEY, the long awaited Laneige Ideal Shadow Quads review & swatches is finally here! You guys were so excited when I first posted a photo of them on my Instagram, I knew I had to do up this post ASAP! Revamped with a whole new packaging (psst, it is much more luxurious) and formula, these Ideal Shadow Quads come in 10 different colour ways to ensure that you are covered from a basic neutral eye to a glamorous party look.
Would say that the newly revamped Laneige Ideal Shadow Quads are definitely a notch better than its predecessor. Here are some points that I have noted but if you have any other further details to point out, feel free to write it down in the comments. Personally, I am enjoying the revamped packaging as they are perfectly in sync with their new Silk Intense Lipsticks. Laneige definitely stepped up their game, making the brand seem more relatable to the modern sophisticated city lady.
The new Laneige Ideal Shadow Quad is slightly larger and has a clean cut edge finishing (the old has a rounded edge with a metal trim). The new packaging feels heavier as well, which I am totally in love with as it adds a touch of luxe to the brand. The insides of the new quad also took a major revamp with it being made completely of metal. The best part? The mirror is so huge, you can literally apply your eyeshadow anytime, anywhere! Lastly, the Ideal Shadow Quad also features a magnetic closure whereas the previous sported a snap closure. What do you think of all the little changes? I am definitely pleased with the carefully thought out improvements!
Even though the new packaging is slightly larger, both quads still hold the same about of product (6g). However, the shadows in the newly reformulated Laneige Ideal Shadow Quads feel much more buttery and have lesser fallouts. The metallics in the new quads are extremely pigmented and every colour that I have tried blended seamlessly without much effort. It is really something when they managed to maintain a pretty decent colour payoff for all their matte shades, something that is almost RARE in the beauty industry because mattes are one of the most difficult shadows to perfect.
The pigments in the old quad are much larger and chalkier. As part of the reformulation, the pigments in the Ideal Shadow Quads are much more finely milled which lead me to something that I wish to point out before you purchase your quad.
When the pigments are much finer in nature, it requires a completely different kind of technology when it comes to pressing. The new quad may be extremely buttery and smooth but it lacks quality pressing, therefore, the shadows are "looser" and may crumble in the palette much easier. Would strongly encourage you to check your palette before purchasing and make sure you take extra care when it comes to handling these quads. You definitely do not want to deal with a broken shadow mess like mine! Mine came loose out of the pan even though it is completely new. Such a bummer but no worries, you can always fix a broken shadow easily with a little rubbing alcohol and a thumb workout.
With that being said, I am still pretty much obsessed with the new Laneige Ideal Shadow Quads because they are definitely one of the better quality shadows in the market. The colours are beautiful and they blend like a dream. Would totally recommend these quads for those of you who are just dabbling into make up. It is a foolproof palette and the colour selection is too good to be true! My favourites are 02 Cafe Solo, 04 Deep Crimson, 07 Rosebay Garden, 08 All Shook Up and 10 Red Fox Fur. I know, I cannot stop myself, I am this close to naming all 10 even but I stopped myself at 5. Sigh, makeup junkie problems! Overall, great palette, amazing quality, what more can you ask for? Just be careful with your new baby, alright? ;)
