Oh dear Singapore weather, you are literally so hot! Living in such a warm and humid climate, it is almost impossible for any makeup to not slide around throughout the day. Usually by midday, I would probably look like a walking grease ball all thanks to my oily skin.

Thankfully, after trying out SO many different foundations, primers and even setting sprays, I have finally found a solution to my woes. Introducing L'Oreal True Match Cushion Foundation, the only base you will ever need if you are a busy bee living in sunny Singapore.

L'Oreal True Match Cushion Foundation

If you are a fan of the highly raved L'Oreal True Match Foundation, then you are in for a treat as it finally available in Cushion form! Cushions are such a great hit because it is so compact and travel-friendly.

Due to my hectic travel schedules, I would always opt for cushions as it makes foundation application so quick and easy.
However, as much as I love the idea of cushions, the coverage and formula usually puts me off. It is so tough to find a cushion that is able to cover my sever acne scars and yet doesn't leave the skin looking shiny or tacky. Now, with L'Oreal True Match Cushion Foundation in the picture, the tables are turned.

The L'Oreal True Match Cushion comes in 3 shades that are curated for Asian skin tones. N1 has a neutral to slightly pinkish undertone that is great for fair skin as it helps in brightening the complexion. The other two shades have a warmer yellow undertone. Light-Medium skin tones can opt for G1 whereas those with a beautiful tan can check out G3.

Let's Put It To The Test!

L'Oreal True Match Cushion comes with big claims and today, we are going to put it to the test to see how it fairs in sunny Singapore.
Picture
Tap Test
Right of the bat, I am already extremely impressed with the tap test. C'mon, lets take a minute to appreciate how generous they are with the amount of product in this cushion. One of my biggest pet peeves about cushions is the lack of product to justify its price point. However, this cushion took me by surprise. With just a slight tap, you can already see foundation oozing out of the sponge. How often do you get such amounts in a normal cushion foundation? A little goes a long way and you will definitely need lesser taps to complete a full face when using the L'Oreal True Match Cushion Foundation.

Tap Test with Brand X
Too good to be true? Decided to conduct a comparison with another cushion (Brand X) and here are the results! Using the same pressure, we can see who the clear winner is in terms of the amount of product in the cushion. I've also noticed that the consistency of L'Oreal True Match Cushion is much more similar to a liquid foundation which makes blending a lot more easier as well.

Half Face Test: True Match Cushion | Bare Face
My skin is my biggest insecurity and I have been facing issues like blemishes, scarring and freckles. Perfecting my base is usually the most important step in my beauty routine.

With L'Oreal True Match Cushion, I have to say, the coverage and finish is unlike any other cushions that I own. With just one layer, it managed to cover my existing acne scars, freckles and even brightened up my dark eye circles without the help of any concealer. My pores are less visible and my skin looks airbrushed and radiant. The cushion foundation feels lightweight on the skin and there is a cooling fresh sensation when you pat it on. Pretty impressive, I tend to look forward to getting ready everyday just because of it.

Half Face Test: True Match Cushion | Brand X
When compared with Brand X, we can already see who the clear winner is. Application with L'Oreal True Match Cushion was quick and easy. Using just a mere few taps, I've managed to create a flawless radiant base. There's something in the formula too that helps to reflect light away from the face thus making my depressed scars appear less noticeable.

Whereas for Brand X, I had to struggle just to get enough product to cover half my face. With so much effort being put into making Brand X work, it definitely did not pay off. My imperfections were still peeking through along my cheeks and temples.

Wear Test
As the True Match Cushion claims to have 14 hours of poreless matte finish, I had to put it to the test! Being a designer, my working hours is practically 9-9 or worst. Most cushion foundation would start to break up on my face by midday. However, with L'Oreal True Match Cushion, it managed to stay out for a good 10 hours or so. Towards the later part of the day, my skin got slightly shinier but it is only natural as I have extremely oily skin and I did not blot my face. In terms of staying power, it is comparable to a long-wearing heavy duty liquid foundation.

Paris Fashion Week New Releases

Next up, we have a whole bunch of new releases for the perfect Mad for Matte makeup look. With 4 new ranges inspired from Paris Fashion Week, here's my in depth roundup with swatches on everything you need to know.

True Match Blur Cream - SGD23.90

Picture
L'Oreal True Match Blur Cream
A primer that is able to blur enlarged pores whilst smoothening out skin texture, what more can I ask for? L'Oreal True Match Blur Cream utilises micro-blur technology to create a flawless silky smooth base for foundation to glide on.

Poreless Matte with True Match Blur Cream
Meant to be used before foundation and after skincare, the color may seem too dark at first but it blends seamlessly into the skin. Immediately after using, my pores appear less pronounced and my skin is left with a beautiful matte finish. Achieving a flawless canvas has never been easier!

Lucent Magique Mono Blush - SGD14.90

L'Oreal Lucent Magique Mono Blush
This! I can't even contain my love for it because it is that good! Zero cakiness, stunning shades and a great price tag, I would grab the entire range in a heartbeat. They smell like candy which makes application even sweeter.

I have never been a fan of brushes in eyeshadow/blush compacts so I will skip that part. The mirror though, is an excellent touch! If you are a jet-setter like me, the petite plastic packaging will make this blush the ideal one to pack along.

My favourite shade is Rose Romance, a stunning natural rose shade that is suitable for most skintones. I love how it gives such a beautiful glow to the face and don't even get me started on how stunning the shade is. If you are familiar with Milani's Luminoso, then I must say, this is so much better than that!

The colour payoff is just right which makes it easier to build according to your liking. You know how makeup is meant to enhance your natural beauty? Well, that is Rose Romance for you!

Colour Riche Paris Fashion Week Matte Lipsticks - SGD21.90

Picture
L'Oreal Colour Riche Paris Fashion Week Matte Lipsticks
Fresh of the chicest runways in Paris Fashion Week, L'Oreal came up with 4 new matte shades to help you keep up with your fashion A game. Enriched with Jojoba Oil, these Colour Riche Lipsticks are unlike your average matte lippies that are scratchy and difficult to apply. I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly it glided on my lips without compromising on the colour payoff. The finish passes off as a matte lippie but feels extremely moisturizing on the lips.

The four shades are extremely versatile, bringing you different looks suitable for both day and night. If you are an avid Korean drama fan, you must be familiar with Goblin's Kim Go Eun and the dried rose lips that she had made famous. Well now, with my favourite shade 233 Rouge-a-Porter, you can achieve it easily with just one swipe.

Another special mention is shade 234 Ruby D'Oevure, a stunning red that brightens up the complexion and whitens the teeth. On days when you are feeling a little under the weather, this power red will definitely be the best pick-me-up.
