Hello back from Singapore! It's been awhile since I had the time to sit down and pen my thoughts. Time is flying insanely fast and we're already in March. I literally have no idea how or what happened in the past two months. I guess this all boils down to being too busy and overwhelmed at work. Haha, who's with me?
Well, I know many of you are curious about my job since I am constantly traveling. I would love to tell you something cool like a ninja or a spy but I am just a plain ol' designer, selling my life to the fashion industry. My friends would always joke that they have to book an appointment a month before just to grab dinner with me. Yup, the life of a designer is not that glamorous after all. All the blings and glam is just a facade of a severely exploited industry.
Nonetheless, things have been going pretty well for me. There are ups and downs but I am always thankful for the people that I get to meet along the way. I hope 2017 has been great to you so far. Mine had a pretty exciting start which you'll get to read all about it in this post.
LASER FOR POREs & acne scarring
Just 2 weeks ago on Valentine's, I scheduled an appointment with my favourite clinic to get my third round of laser for pores and scarring (you can read about my first treatment here). Yes, I know, Valentine's Day. It totally slipped my mind that the 14th of Feb is the highly commercialised day of love. Pains of being #foreveralone and married to my job.
For my third session, surprisingly, it was a whole lot more comfortable and the downtime was much lesser compared to the previous. I might have missed out on updating you guys here during my second session but it was cray!
Here is a picture of how my skin looked immediately after the second session. I was told to inform the doctor if it was getting uncomfortable but I kept quiet because I did not want the power to be lowered. No pain no gain ya know! All I wanted was to zap those pesky scars away in the shortest timeframe. The downtime for my second treatment was about a week and there were some major scabbing going on as well.
My most recent experience with the Laser for Pores and Scarring went by like a breeze. Zero pain and discomfort. The redness was also vastly reduced compared to the first two times. Surprisingly, I actually saw the most visible results after this session too!
Since I was jetting off in the next two days, my schedule was packed to the brim with appointments. Immediately after the treatment, I slapped on a layer of IDS Skincare's Diamond Dust Cream and off I went to a lunch meeting & a private hosting of an upcoming makeup range. Totes slaying #girlboss all thanks to my holy grail DD Cream. You guys should totally check it out, it is one of my all time favourite product from IDS's skincare range.
As of now (2 weeks later), my skin feels visibly smoother with an improvement in both texture and luminosity. Although the deeper depressed scars are still there, it is not as obvious as before. The downtime for my third session took only 3 days and I looked flawless during the entire trip.
Technology now is so rad, I would totally recommend this treatment for those of you who are facing the same post-acne issues as me. If you are still facing existing acne, hold on, I am working on a post on how I cleared my skin. You guys will be amazed by the results!
europe - bird poop fIasco & getting caught in a taxi strike
If you have been following my Instagram (you should if you haven't!), you would have known that I just got back from Europe last week. Well, the summary of my trip is equivalent to an insane amount of make up shopping and a whole series of unfortunate events.
Just on a beautiful Sunday morning, after having a delicious breakfast spread in Paris, we were caught in the most horrific situation that no tourist should ever experience. We fell victim to an epic theft situation in BROAD DAYLIGHT. Hold on... give me a moment to compose myself because I am still shook af.
The worst thing, while in the midst of clearing all the immigration mess, a bird decided to take a HUGE dump on my head while I was about to cross the road. Legit fml moment right there.
Talk about living in a series of unfortunate events. I guess the best thing out of it was everyone messaging me on Instagram, that bird shit is lucky and I should buy the lottery. Too bad, your homegirl here doesn't believe in the sheer luck of striking a fortune. If anyone decides to rub some luck off me, please buy 3716 (no promises to strike). 😂
After the entire fiasco, this was my only joy... Yup, cheap thrills! Our cute waiter wrote this on the receipt. Have always felt a deep connection to Italy, it must be him. HAHA I KID.
As always, good things never last. We thought all the bad luck was left in Paris but OH HELL NAW!!!! It followed us all the way to Milan and we were stranded at the airport because ALL the taxis were on strike. Imagine walking around aimlessly in the cold trying to find a way to the hotel... Oh god, thank heavens it was all over.
The taxi strike against Uber was insane. There were even instances whereby taxi drivers would throw eggs at approaching Uber cars. Up till this point, I still do not understand why there is a need for such violence...
Also, there were so many occasions whereby we were almost victimised by pickpockets. It was never this awful in my previous trips to Europe. This time, we had to constantly fear for our belongings as there will always be someone trying to stick their nasty fingers into your bag. Not too sure if the peak in pickpockets were due to fashion week but guys, if you are travelling to Europe, BE CAREFUL!!!!! I would invest in a 10 pound lock to keep my belongings safe.
Being in situations like these makes me feel x100 times more thankful to be born and living in the safe haven of Singapore. No strikes (cuz' nobody dares to, which is great!) and no fearing for your entire life being stolen the moment you step on the streets. As I grow older, I realised how lucky we are to be living in this little city whereby almost no crime goes unpunished. Thank you Singapore for allowing me to feel safe even when I come home at 4 in the morning.
Well, that being said, this is the end of my entire 2 weeks of excitement. Now, I am back to slaving in a 9-6.30 desk job while my mind is wandering on the next adventure. Till then, you guys can enjoy the visuals I have taken from my recent trip.
Ps: Just booked a flight out to the wonderful Dubai this April! So stoked for it and I can't wait to explore their culture and places of interests.
Thank you for reading!
