Ciao, my beautiful internet friends! The long awaited reveal on what I did at Kowayo Aesthetics in early May this year is finally here! 2017 felt like a year for fillers. Almost everyone is getting fillers because it is a quick fix to get instant taller, more defined features without going under the knife. It is so accessible and the procedure can be done in under 30 minutes. Why would anyone want to get an operation done anymore? Taller Nose Bridge Without An Operation? Yes!Approximately 1.5 years ago, I had my first nose fillers experience. I love the definition of my nose but I wanted something slightly taller so that it would still look defined without spamming half a pan of highlighter. During my consultation with Dr Wong, I briefly mentioned about my concerns and he recommended a slight top of of fillers with an added touch of Botox. Yes, BOTOX! It is possible for the nose so if you are interested in minimising the size of your nose without going under the knife, this treatment will be your saving grace! Short Recap On Nose FillersIf you are new to the fillers world, here is a quick summary on all you need to know before deciding on what to get done. As a less painful & lower downtime alternative to a traditional surgery, fillers are generally used on nose, chin and cheeks to add volume. There are many different kinds of fillers, some are dissolvable whereas some are semi-permanent that may last up to 1-2 years. Hyaluronic Acid fillers are one of the most commonly used as they are dissolvable. Hyaluronic Acid fillers are also "softer" therefore the expected results are much more "rounded". There may also be a possibility of migration due to its viscosity. However, if you do not like the results, you can simply dissolve it and everything will be back to normal. Previously, I had Radiesse done which is a non-dissolvable filler and is much "harder" in nature. The results are therefore sharper and more defined but if administered carelessly, it will be irreversible. You will have to bear with it and wait at least a year for this filler to dissolve. There are pros and cons for each type of fillers so getting a consultation and choosing your doctor is extremely important. As I already had Radiesse, Dr Wong recommended using a Hyaluronic Acid base filler as it is safe to administer as a top up. My ExperienceHad a quick consultation with Dr Wong as I spoke to him about my scar problems as well as my concerns on my nose. Being highly professional, he knew exactly what I wanted. During the same day, I had both my fillers topped up as well as getting Baby Skin Boosters to alleviate my acne scarring. As always, my makeup was removed and I had numbing cream applied on my entire face. Personally, nose fillers were never painful for me. They are usually more uncomfortable instead but the entire process is extremely bearable. My first time involved a lot of pinching and shaping so I was very much distracted from any physical pain. This time round, under the skilled hands of Dr Wong, my fillers were topped up in just a matter of minutes with almost no pain and just a tiny bit of shaping. Kudos to Dr Wong as he had to work along my original Radiesse fillers which were pretty much stuck in place. Moulding the Hyaluronic Acid fillers to create a taller nose bridge for me is actually much harder than expected but I had nothing to fear as I knew I am safe with Dr Wong. With each injection, he would always check on me and the lovely nurse would go over the spot with an ice pack to numb the area. After a couple of minutes, we were done and I was extremely in love with my improved bridge height! To target my concern of having a bulbous nose tip, Dr Wong did a quick injection of Botox which literally felt like nothing. Botox, is essentially used to relax the muscles, therefore "shrinking" the area and making it less prominent. With the help of Botox, my nose was slimmer and the tip is less huge as compared to before. Contouring is much easier and I can achieve that cute coveted button nose effect with just a little help of makeup. I never knew Botox could be used on the nose until now! Apparently, I have researched, if you have large protruding alars, you may want to consider getting some botox along those area as well just to minimise it a tinge. ResultsImmediately after the top up of fillers, you can see an instant increase in bridge height especially around the area in between my eyes. Some minor swelling is normal and it should last for about two weeks tops. For my case, I did have some swelling with no redness. Managed to contour a little and I was good to go for an event the next day. People were commenting on how I looked better but they have no idea what little enhancements I did the previous day. This is the beauty of fillers. It is a wonderful quick and easy enhancement, but it is also so natural, nobody knows that you did anything major! After a month, the swelling has fully dissipated and I have also noticed that the tip of my nose is significantly slimmer. It is probably the Botox working its magic. This is also the period when I felt that my nose looked its best and the full effects of the treatment could be seen. I have no regrets getting a top up of fillers because my side profile looks so much more 3 dimensional. With regards to the Botox, I am honestly impressed by the difference that it makes! I have no idea why nobody has talked about this but seriously, if you are getting your nose fillers done, just throw in the Botox for the optimal nose enhancement experience. You can forget about the hassle of getting a rhinoplasty because this mimics it without any pain or downtime! Just look at the definition of my 3/4 profile view and how much my nose has improved throughout the months. I love it! I almost have no need to edit my pictures at all (except for my chubby face). Can't thank Dr Wong enough for his expertise in knowing exactly what I wanted and delivering something that is so much better! Before & AfterFrom the side profile, you can already see an obvious increase in height in between my eyes. The curvature of the nose is also much smoother. The biggest difference was the frontal view. Before, my nose even with some fillers in it, was still pretty huge and bulbous. However, with Dr Wong's skilled hands in administering HA fillers along with Botox, he managed to achieve both height as well as minimising the size of the nose without any surgery. I really love my new nose and am definitely not looking forward to when my body metabolises all the fillers. :( Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my treatment at Kowayo Aesthetics and would highly recommend a consultation if you are interested in getting fillers done. Dr Wong treated both my pitted acne scarring (here) as well as made me prettier by giving me a much more defined nose. I can't thank him and GotIdeas PR for making me more confident in my own skin.
