We all love the idea of travelling but before all the fun starts, there is always the nightmare of airplanes! At 35,000 feet, all the dry recycled cabin air will definitely take a toll on your complexion. To avoid looking like a hot mess, here are some beauty hacks that I have picked up from my travels. 1. Cleansing & Skincare Routine![]() For long haul flights, it is extremely important to cleanse your skin and remove every trace of makeup. It is the same as not sleeping with your makeup on, you definitely do not want to wake up with a pesky zit caused by clogged pores. The easiest, most fuss-free way to remove makeup (even waterproof mascara!) is this magical Biore Cleansing Oil Sheets that comes in a travel-friendly pack of 10. Tried & tested, it has ALWAYS been in my travel bag. Makeup removal is just the first step to curb dehydrated & fatigued skin. It is extremely important to follow up with a good skincare regime. Since you are literally forbidden to bring anything up the plane, requesting for deluxe size of your trusted skincare at your beauty counter will definitely come in handy. Find products that are mainly focused on hydration & anti-pollutants which are ideal for long haul flights. Below is a breakdown of my in-flight skincare routine:
2. Sleeping EssentialsSleep, sleep, sleeeeeeep!!! That is me 24/7 every single day except when I am on the airplane. Dear body, why are you doing this to me?! Anyone out there feel me too? The only way for me to sleep is to eat a pharmacy bought sleeping aid (Melatonin). Nonetheless, providing ample hydration to my skin is still my ultimate sleeping/binge-watching-movies essential. If I am awake, I will always apply a generous coat of Fresh Sugar Advance Lip Therapy and spritz on Laneige Water Bank Mineral Skin Mist. These two products are always easily accessible in my front seat pocket to provide moisture whenever I need it. When my lips start to feel chapped/beyond hope, my holy grail product will be Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. It gently sloughs away all dead skin cells while providing a moisture barrier on your lips. I literally swear by this product and carry it with me every trip. Lastly, before catching up on my beauty sleep, I will apply a generous amount of Water Sleeping Mask and wake up to livelier, radiant and well-rested skin. 3. Stay Clean!I would low-key count myself as a germophobe but hey, the plane is really dirty! I will always keep a Dettol Hand Sanitizer nearby to disinfect my hands before touching my face. Apply Glysomed's Hand Cream after sanitizing as it leaves a wax-like film on your hand, thus locking in any existing moisture and preventing your cuticles from drying out. 13 hours up in the plane without showering is gross... Always remember to bring a set of toothbrush (some flights will provide them). Since you can't shower, Biore Powder Sheets will provide the ultimate dry bath & leave your skin silky smooth. Finish off with dry shampoo to give life to your hair, my favourite has got to be from Klorane. If you need a little pick me up/pampering time before embarking on your trip, pack along either a face mask or an eye mask. My favourite face masks tend to be from Korean brands and the one I took along with me recently is Skinfood's Snail Mask. Yeah, snail secretion literally on my face. So glamourous! ;) If you are not into masking on the plane, you can find Lavender scented self-heating eye masks that will provide the ultimate relaxation while you catch up on your beauty sleep. 4. Don't Forget About "Down There"This is literally my ultimate hack and something that I urge everyone to make into a habit. Many people neglect their personal hygiene as it is never widely spoken about. Nobody wants a smelly "down there" especially when you can't exactly freshen up yourself on the plane. I always bring along feminine wipes which comes in handy especially when it is the time of the month. Period on the plane is the worst, all I wanna do is jump in a shower 24/7. Additionally, I will always carry along a spare disposable underwear & pantyliner just in case I need a fresh one once I have landed. It is also extremely useful if your luggage gets lost/delayed! (You can thank me in advance! :P) Lastly, tissues! You never know when that cup of hot coffee is gonna spill or when the flu bug hits you. Always keep at least a full pack in your bag which can be used throughout the entire trip. So that concludes my extremely elaborate list of in-flight beauty hacks! Hope the tips above help you in your next oversea escapade! Always remember, be safe & enjoy yourself to the fullest! Have a wonderful time abroad and see ya soon!
xx Winter
